Committee on Governance, Peace, and Regional Cooperation

Theme: Promoting inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and cross-border collaboration through youth leadership.

Overview:

This committee will address the role of young people in governance, civic engagement, and regional integration. It will highlight youth participation in decision-making, peacebuilding in post-conflict zones, and the creation of networks that strengthen unity across West Africa.

Objectives:

• To amplify youth voices in governance and policymaking.

• To encourage transparency, accountability, and civic education.

• To strengthen peacebuilding and inter-country cooperation through youth networks.

Subtopics:

1. 🤝 Youth in Governance & Civic Participation

   • Increasing youth representation in local and national governance structures.

   • Promoting voter education, digital activism, and policy advocacy.

   • Building youth councils and coalitions for democratic accountability.

2. 🕊 Peacebuilding & Regional Unity

   • Facilitating interfaith and intercultural dialogues for social cohesion.

   • Supporting youth-led mediation and conflict-prevention programs.

   • Establishing cross-border youth alliances for ECOWAS integration.

Expected Outcomes:

• A “Youth Governance Charter” advocating for inclusive participation in national decision-making.

• A regional Youth Peace Network to share best practices and coordinate action.

• Policy briefs for governments and ECOWAS institutions on youth inclusion and peacebuilding.
